I recently upgraded from an RTX 4070 to an RTX 5070, but now I'm facing a problem. Every time I power up my PC, I get a message saying there's an overcurrent detected on the main board, and it'll shut down in 15 seconds. People told me I might not have enough power for this GPU. However, even after switching back to my old GPU, I'm still getting this error message. I'm really unsure how to resolve this issue and would appreciate any help!

Try clearing the CMOS; that might help reset any weird settings in your motherboard. You can find instructions in your motherboard manual.
It sounds like the overcurrent error is coming from your motherboard rather than the PSU. When you swapped out the GPUs, you might have inadvertently shorted something or even scratched the motherboard if you used a sharp tool. It's also worth noting that sometimes these errors can be triggered by USB devices. Have you added any new ones recently? If that doesn’t work, definitely try clearing the CMOS as suggested before investigating the motherboard for any potential damages.
I unplugged all USB devices and rebooted, and now everything seems fine! Both GPU installations went smoothly, no tools used except for the case screws, and no liquids around either. Do you think I could try reinstalling my 5070 without having any USB devices plugged in?
