I just bought a new 8TB SSD because my old 5TB HDD was failing, and I wanted to transfer data before losing everything. I've been moving files in small batches without any issues until I tried transferring a particular folder that turned out to be corrupted. After getting some error messages, I ejected the SSD and plugged it back in, but ended up losing the entire file system! I managed to restore some semblance of a file system using chkdsk, but none of my files are showing up. I'm looking for advice on data recovery tools that could help me recover my files while keeping the folder structure intact. Has anyone had experience with this?

Sounds like there could be an issue with the SSD itself. If it's acting up right out of the box, there's a chance you got a faulty one or even a counterfeit. Looking into the warranty options from where you purchased it might be a good move. In the meantime, I advise not to write anything new onto the SSD until you've attempted recovery!
It sounds like you've really gone through it with that SSD! First off, trying to recover data yourself can be risky if you’re not familiar with it. The best approach would’ve been to create an image of your old HDD before trying anything. Since you've already begun the recovery process, maybe consider sending your SSD to a professional recovery service if it's critical. If not, be careful with data recovery software and double-check its credibility. Puran File Recovery might work, but make sure you do some research on it first!
Great point! I once lost a lot of data trying DIY recovery, definitely not worth the risk unless you know what you're doing.
