Help! My PC is Struggling with Internet Speeds on Both WiFi and Ethernet

I recently moved to a new house and upgraded to a plan that offers double the internet speed of my previous one. While all my other devices, whether connected via WiFi or Ethernet, are getting speeds between 400-600 Mbps, my PC is only achieving speeds between 10-40 Mbps. I haven't changed anything on my computer during the move, and I've confirmed that my drivers and Windows are all up-to-date. I've already troubleshooted with my internet provider, but no solutions have worked. I'm really hoping to find some help with this issue!

First off, how are you measuring your internet speed? It’s worth checking the Performance tab in Task Manager to see what's going on. Another option is to boot from a USB with Ubuntu just to check if the speeds improve. Also, what kind of router are you using? Sometimes there are QoS settings that can impact performance for specific devices.

I've tried a few different speed test sites, and they all show similar numbers. Plus, my downloads often drop really low. I've got my console connected too, and it confirms those speeds. I’m not too sure about the Ubuntu setup right now, though. My router is an AT&T home gateway, so I can't change it, and I don’t know anything about QoS.

I think these kinds of issues can be tricky! If all else fails, you might want to reset your network settings completely or contact your ISP to see if they can find anything unusual on their end.

This sounds like a frustrating situation! Have you tried running an MTU test? It could reveal some underlying issues. You might also want to check for any electrical interference affecting your PC's connection. Moving your computer to a different room could help diagnose if that’s a factor.

I ran the MTU test, and it said everything's optimal with no fragmentation detected. I’m just not sure what to do with that information!
