Hey everyone! I've been dealing with a frustrating issue on my PC for two years now. It's a custom-built tower that I put together with a friend, but after about a month of use, it started randomly turning off and on. Initially, I didn't realize I hadn't applied enough thermal paste, which caused my processor to overheat, but I thought I had that under control. Currently, I'm studying audiovisual production, so I don't game as much anymore, and surprisingly, my software like Premiere Pro and After Effects runs fine without crashes. However, whenever I play games, my PC shuts down after about 5 to 20 minutes—it's been relentless! I've cleaned it up, had it checked by a repair shop (they said everything looked good), and I've updated all the drivers. The obvious fix seems like replacing the processor, but that's not really in my budget right now, and I want to make sure that's indeed the solution. Thanks for any help!

You should definitely check your Windows error logs. Jumping to faulty hardware assumptions, like a bad CPU, might not be accurate. This can pinpoint exact errors your system is having. Just a thought!
It sounds like your power supply unit (PSU) might be an issue, especially if it’s undersized for your setup. Another common reason for shutdowns could be overheating, so checking your temperatures using a tool like MSI Afterburner could be a good idea. Just monitoring under load might give you a clue. Good luck!
Could you post your full PC specs? Knowing details like your CPU, GPU, RAM, and PSU will really help us diagnose the issue better. Right now, advice is pretty general, but specifics might show if your components are mismatched or if something is simply outdated.
Sure! Here’s the link with my PC specs: [https://userdiag.com/id/OGmYu8Q9W3](https://userdiag.com/id/OGmYu8Q9W3)
Thanks for the tip! I looked up the logs, and it mentioned a "Kernel error" with ID "41." What does that mean?
