Help! My PC Won’t Boot – Getting ‘Reboot and Select Proper Boot Device’

I woke up this morning ready to use my PC, but I was hit with a message saying 'Reboot and select proper boot device.' I didn't have any issues last night. I've already checked that all my drives are properly connected. I also reset the BIOS settings to default as suggested in several YouTube videos. I'm not super tech-savvy, but I've been learning as I go because I've been experiencing a lot of blue screens lately. I'm feeling pretty stuck and could use some advice on what to do next. Thanks! 🙏

It sounds like your hard drive might be failing. Unfortunately, this can lead to blue screen errors and the boot message you're seeing. While checking cables and resetting BIOS can be helpful, it's rare for cables to come loose unless there's been a power loss or a CMOS battery issue. Just so you know, if it’s dead, it might be time to consider a replacement.

Could I use a different internal drive or external SSD to boot? I think the failing drive has Windows on it, so I'm unclear about my options.

Thanks for the info! At least now I have an idea of what might be wrong.
