Help! My PC Won’t Connect to the Monitor—Did I Damage My GPU Slot?

Hey everyone! This is my first build, and I'm having some trouble. I accidentally forced my graphics card into the PCI slot in the wrong orientation, and now the slot looks a bit scratched. My PC powers on, but there's no signal coming from the GPU to my monitor. I think my CPU has integrated graphics—should I use the motherboard's display port instead? Also, would it be worth trying the GPU in other slots? I'm a bit worried about my CPU power cables; I have a 4-pin and an 8-pin connected, but I split one of the 8-pins to fit the 4-pin slot, leaving two pins just tucked away. Is that okay? Any advice would be really appreciated! I've already removed the CMOS battery and checked all the cables. How did you manage to force the GPU in incorrectly? Just curious! Make sure the GPU is powered from the PSU too. It might be a good idea to remove the GPU and see if you can boot using the integrated graphics to determine whether the GPU or the PCIe slot is damaged. And honestly, with your CPU model, you don’t really need that extra 4-pin for power!

Could you post some close-up pictures of the damage? It would help us assess the situation better. As for the CPU power connection, it's totally fine to have the extra 4 pins just hanging there. They’re designed to work like that, so no worries there at all!
