Help! My PC Won’t Detect HDMI After BIOS Changes

I was trying to enable secure boot in my BIOS settings, which involved generating a PK and disabling CSM. I also had to switch my video settings from legacy to UEFI. Now, my PC isn't recognizing any HDMI connection. I even removed the CMOS battery for five minutes, but that didn't seem to help. I don't have an integrated GPU—just a dedicated one, which is an RX 6600 8GB. Here are my specs: AMD RYZEN 5 5500, A520M motherboard, 16GB RAM at 3200MHz, and a 1TB NVME drive.

If you can borrow another computer, like a laptop or a friend's PC, try using Remote Desktop Connection to access your PC. This way, you can check if the cable is recognized in Device Manager or see if it's not detected at all. You can also reinstall your graphics drivers this way. If you don't have access to another computer, there’s a Windows app for phones that can do similar stuff, though it’s tricky on a smaller screen. Just make sure to use DDU to fully erase your old graphics driver before reinstalling it.

Additionally, sometimes just removing the CMOS battery isn't enough. Check your motherboard’s manual to see if you need to short certain jumpers. You could also try holding the power button for a few seconds while the battery is out—that can help clear residual settings too. Good luck!

I don't really understand much about remote desktop or how to do it without the HDMI working. I’ll try it out and report back! Thanks for the help.

How exactly do I set up Remote Desktop when I can't even access the config because of the HDMI issue?

You should try to reinstall the drivers from Device Manager. Just reboot your system and see if you can get it to recognize the HDMI output again.

Make sure you unplugged the PSU from the wall when you removed the CMOS battery, right? Sometimes that step is crucial to fully reset the BIOS settings.

Yes, I definitely unplugged it when I took the battery out.
