Help! My PC Won’t Recognize the Ethernet Cable

I'm having trouble with my ethernet connection. The cable is securely connected to my PC, but it just won't detect it. I've double-checked everything: the cable is plugged into the router and my PC, and I made sure it clicked into place. I even tried swapping the ends of the cable, but no luck. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

What's the model of your motherboard? I suspect it might have an Intel i226-V Ethernet controller. That info could help diagnose the problem better.

Have you tried connecting the ethernet cable and then restarting both your router and your computer? I’ve noticed that my PC won’t recognize the ethernet if it’s not plugged in before startup.

First off, check if this is a new build. Have you installed the necessary drivers yet? Also, try plugging the ethernet cable into a different PC to see if it works there.

No, I've had this PC built for a year now. I've installed all the drivers and double-checked the connections multiple times.

You might want to try different ports on your router. Just a heads up, the WAN port should only be for the incoming ISP connection. Some LAN ports could be dedicated for IPTV or phone, which may not support local networks properly. Also, check if your network card appears in Device Manager and let me know the model if it does.

Yes, the network card shows up, and it's the 'Realtek PCIe Gbe Family Controller'.
