Help! My RTX 3090 Strix Keeps Crashing – What’s Going On?

I recently got a new RTX 3090 Strix, but I'm having serious stability issues. It crashes frequently, and I get a DirectX error saying "GetDeviceRemovedReason failed with DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG" which indicates that the GPU isn't responding. I've updated to the latest drivers, but the problems persist. Sometimes, programs just close without any warnings at all. I remember encountering some weird errors related to VRAM before, but since this GPU has 24GB, that shouldn't be an issue. I really want to get to the bottom of this!

Sometimes, older drivers work better. I’ve switched to version 566.x and it has been pretty stable for me. Maybe give that a shot before trying anything more complicated?

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll try rolling back the driver first and see how it goes.

Have you tried using Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU)? It can help you remove any leftover files from previous driver installations, which might be causing conflicts. That could potentially solve your crashing issues.

I did a clean install of the drivers, so I wasn't sure if DDU was necessary for Nvidia to Nvidia updates.
