I bought a used RX 580 Sapphire Nitro+ graphics card along with a new 600W power supply. The problem is that my graphics card needs both a 6-pin and an 8-pin connection, but I only have one 8-pin cable. So, I got an adapter to make it work, but now I'm stuck with a black screen. Everything powers up—the lights and fans are working—yet I'm not getting any display. Could anyone suggest what might be going wrong?

Be careful with the adapter you’re using! Not all cable adapters are compatible with any given power supply. It's best to avoid generic ones and choose adapters that specifically indicate compatibility with your PSU.
Thanks for the info everyone! I think I’ll get a new power supply with the correct cables instead. That seems like the most straightforward fix!
What was the wattage of your power supply? Usually, 600W should be enough since the RX 580 only needs around 185W, combining 75W from the motherboard and 150W from the PCIe connection. Did you make sure to test the graphics card before buying it, or was it new? That could be a factor if there’s no display.
I bought it second-hand, but the seller assured me it was checked and working fine.
Yeah, I have a 600W PSU right now featuring a single pin-to-8 cable, but I did use an NL VSK RanVL adapter. Still no picture.
