I'm not very tech-savvy, and my 15-year-old son has his heart set on upgrading his graphics card for Christmas. We bought his PC about three years ago, and here's what we have: a Skytech Gaming Nebula Gaming PC with an Intel Core i5 12400F, RTX 3050, 1TB NVME SSD, 16GB DDR4 RAM, a 600W Gold PSU, and Windows 10 Home. Can I just go to Best Buy and ask for help? What should I be looking for?

First off, what's your budget? A solid option is the Radeon RX 9060 XT 16GB, which runs about $350. That should give him a nice performance boost!
If you're looking to save some cash, the 9060 XT 8GB version is around $250 and could be a good fit if he’s not into super intensive games. Just make sure it meets his needs!
What resolution is he gaming at? If it's 1080p, the RTX 5060 Ti would work well, and PCIe 4.0 shouldn't be an issue for him.
Before you go buying a new card, maybe check in with your son about why he wants an upgrade. What games is he playing that aren’t running well? Sometimes the problem might not be the GPU itself.
Good point! I’ll definitely ask him. Could be his friend just got a new card and got him thinking!
For a solid upgrade, I'd recommend the 9060 XT as a great all-rounder for gaming. Most games should run smoothly on that!

I totally agree! Just got the 16GB version and I'm really impressed with how it performs.
