Help! My SSD Seems Dead After Case Switch – Should I Buy a HDD or SSD?

Hey everyone! I recently upgraded my PC case and everything was running smoothly. Today, I received a cheap fan/RGB hub and connected it via SATA to the same harness that my SSD was on. My SSD is quite old, about 6 years, and it's a Samsung 850 EVO. The data cable had a broken lock, so I had to glue it on. Now, I've tried using a different data cable and even plugged it into another port on the motherboard, but it's not showing up in the BIOS. I know the power's working since all my fans and lights turn on. I was hoping to get a higher capacity drive without breaking the bank and noticed a WD Black 6TB for $180 at Best Buy. I know that's not the best price per storage, but it's better than spending $350 to $400 on an SSD! I mainly play games, including newer titles like BF6 and Diablo 4, as well as some indie games. So, how do modern games perform on a hard drive? I'm not too worried about competitive multiplayer, mostly just BF6. Also, if you have any suggestions or things to try, I'd really appreciate it. I've never had a part fail before, aside from an AIO cooler, so this is new territory for me!

You don't need to shell out $400 for an SSD. A smaller 2TB SSD could be a good option. Even a SATA SSD would be better than nothing if you're looking to save some cash, even though it's not the ideal choice.

I thought my old one was 2TB when I wrote this, but it's only 1TB! So honestly, anything is an upgrade at this point as long as it’s not 500GB lol.

Many AAA games these days list SSDs in their minimum requirements since mechanical hard drives just can't keep up. You might experience some serious bottlenecking if you go that route.

I kinda figured that would be a problem haha.
