Hey everyone! I'm in need of some support. I'm transitioning all my data to a new SSD and I'm stuck with my last USB drive, a Vansuny 128GB. I know, it was probably a bad choice. Anyway, I can see all the files on it, and they open without any issues. The catch is, whenever I try to copy or cut the files to empty the drive, it just freezes at 0% for a bit, then disconnects and gives me a vague error message. I have to plug it back in to continue. It's not letting me remove any of the files either without throwing the same error. I've scanned the drive, and there's nothing wrong—it's in perfect condition, no damage at all. I really don't want to format it since I need to keep everything that's on it. I'm looking for a quick fix because I want to resolve this as soon as possible! Thanks in advance for your help!

It sounds like your USB drive might have gone read-only, which is common when they reach their end of life. You should definitely try to just copy the files over to your SSD instead of cutting them, because cutting involves a delete operation that the drive can't perform if it's locked. If copying fails, maybe consider using file recovery software to retrieve your files. Good luck!
Why not just give it a whack? Turn it upside down and give it a good smack; that might shake loose those stubborn files! Just kidding, but hey, sometimes a little humor helps. 😄
Haha, I needed the comedic relief! Thanks!
What are you moving everything from? Just curious! Also, where's that SSD located—internal or external? That might help others give better advice!
Oh, I’m moving from a basic 128GB thumb drive to a 2TB SanDisk Extreme Portable SSD external drive.
Yeah, it does seem cheaply made. For recovery software, I’ve heard good things about R-Undelete and Recuva. Both can work pretty well for rescuing files.
