I'm trying to get the Wi-Fi working on my old Acer TravelMate 4050 laptop that runs Lubuntu 16.04, but I'm having no luck. There's no physical button for Wi-Fi, and when I click the network icon and choose 'Enable Wi-Fi,' it doesn't respond at all, and I can't see any available networks. Is my laptop even compatible with Lubuntu 16.04?

Why are you using such an old version of Lubuntu? You might want to check what model your Wi-Fi card is. Intel cards generally work well with Linux, but different brands can be tricky.

I prefer keeping the older version since it runs faster on my laptop. No need to upgrade if everything works for my needs like browsing and YouTube!
