Help! My Windows 11 PC Won’t Connect at Gigabit Speed

I'm having a frustrating issue with my main home PC, which is stuck at a 100mb connection speed, even though other devices in my home are running at gigabit speeds. I recently set up an EERO Pro 6E router in my basement, connected it to my fiber modem and a large switch. My PC, located in my bedroom, was showing a gigabit connection in the settings, but it seems I'm only able to get 100mb. I've checked all my cables, swapped them around, and ensured that other devices like my NAS and laptop are achieving gigabit speeds with the same cables. I've also tried resetting the network settings in Windows, updating the drivers, and even rebooting multiple times. Despite my efforts, the PC just won't recognize the gigabit connection anymore. Any suggestions?

I had a similar issue before, and it turned out to be a cabling problem. Make sure you didn't hardcode any settings on your switches; everything should be set to auto-negotiation. If one of your cables isn't connecting properly, it might limit the speed to 100mb. Try to systematically check the ports on your switch to ensure they're all set correctly. Sometimes, a simple unplug and re-plug of the cables can help reset the connection as well.

Thanks for the tip! I’ll check the ports and try unplugging and re-plugging the cables to see if that helps.

It sounds like you've done quite a bit of troubleshooting already! Since the same cable works with your laptop, it could be an issue with your PC's network interface card (NIC) or its drivers. Have you checked your BIOS settings? Sometimes toggling specific settings like the LAN mode can make a difference. If that doesn't work, consider uninstalling and reinstalling your NIC drivers, trying both the latest version and possibly an older version. If all else fails, a USB to Ethernet adapter is a solid workaround.
