Help! My Windows PC Keeps Crashing Unexpectedly, Especially While Playing Baldur’s Gate 3

I've been having a serious issue with my Windows PC randomly rebooting without any warning, and it's been getting worse since I started playing Baldur's Gate 3. Back in January, my PC would crash to a black screen and reboot, even during simple tasks like watching YouTube or browsing. I thought it might be due to overheating or dust buildup, so I cleaned the fans, reapplied the thermal paste on the CPU, and put everything back together. This helped initially, but now when I play BG3, the crashes happen frequently, usually within 5-10 minutes of gameplay. I've tried reverting to stock speeds and adjusting graphics settings, but nothing seems to work. Oddly enough, I can play other demanding games like Doom Eternal for hours without any issues. The only consistent error I see in the Event Viewer is 'Kernel power event 41.' My setup includes a 5900x CPU, ASUS x570 motherboard, 32GB Corsair DDR4 RAM, an RTX 4080 Super GPU, and a 1000W Corsair 80+ Platinum PSU that I bought recently. I'm totally stumped on what to try next!

It might be worth running a troubleshooting tool that gathers logs and system information. It can help identify the underlying cause of your crashes by analyzing your system. Check out the tool called Specify; it’s pretty handy for this sort of thing. It gathers everything you need to share without too much hassle!

I think the issue may stem from a quick power spike that occurs when BG3 demands a ton of resources from your CPU and GPU. This spike could cause a system failure and reboot. Trying to log voltage and temperature readings with HWiNFO while playing might give you some clues as to what's happening. If you can, do that next time you play!

This sounds like quite the puzzle! It seems like your power supply might be struggling with the load from BG3. You could try using HWiNFO to monitor the power draw while playing – that might reveal if your PSU can't keep up. I had a similar issue before where a Windows update caused some conflicts, and running DISM and SFC scans helped me out. Just a thought!
