Help! My Windows Update is Completely Broken and I’m Locked Out of CMD

I'm having a major issue with Windows Update. I'm unable to check for updates, and I keep getting an error message saying, "There were some problems installing updates, but we'll try again later. If you keep seeing this and want to search the web or contact support for information, this may help: (0x80070005)."

Additionally, I'm experiencing problems with .exe installers, getting a message that says, "Installation has failed. There was an error while installing the application. Check the setup log for more information and contact the author." I also can't install apps from the Microsoft Store or update drivers through the NVIDIA application.

To make matters worse, my Windows Update service (wuauserv) is disabled and attempts to enable it only lead to an "Access Denied" message. I've tried running commands in CMD as an Admin, but I keep getting "Access Denied." What steps can I take to resolve these issues?

If you are unable to change the settings for wuauserv, try checking your Windows permissions and user account settings. Sometimes, doing a system restore to a point when everything was working can help too. Keep in mind that this can roll back updates, though.

You should definitely make sure that you're running the Command Prompt as an administrator. When you do that, right-click on the CMD icon and select 'Run as administrator.' But if you're still seeing 'Access Denied,' it might be a third-party security program causing the issue. Do you have any other antivirus software installed, or just the default Windows one?
