I've recently built a PC and upgraded to an Intel i7-14700K, but I overlooked the importance of a good motherboard. I went with the MSI PRO B760M-E DDR4 because it was an inexpensive option and compatible, but I've been facing significant performance issues—constant FPS drops and stuttering in games that previously ran smoothly. I've tried tweaking BIOS settings and adjusting Windows power settings, but nothing has improved. I suspect the VRMs on this board can't keep up with the CPU. I'm now in search of a motherboard that can handle the i7-14700K effectively while still using DDR4 since I can't afford to upgrade my RAM right now. I'm considering the Gigabyte Z690 Gaming X DDR4 (rev 1.1), but I want to make sure I don't make the same mistake again. Any recommendations?

If you need a good DDR4 board, I'd suggest considering the ASUS ROG Strix Z690-A Gaming. It’s more reliable for higher-end CPUs and should provide a stable performance while gaming. Just make sure to check your budget and read up on reviews to confirm it meets your needs!
