Hey everyone! I'm a complete newbie to PC building since I've always used laptops. I'm hoping to put together a mini ITX build for my brother since he moves between our dad's and mom's places frequently. My budget is pretty tight, around $600 to $700 USD.
My friend gave me his old Ryzen 5 5500 and RX 6600, but I'm not sure what other components I need or what will be compatible with these parts. I'm particularly worried about choosing the right motherboard, cooler, PSU, SSD, and RAM. We're considering using the Thermaltake Core V1 Mini ITX Case. Any advice or guidance would be appreciated. Thanks!

If you need Wi-Fi, try to find a motherboard that comes with built-in Wi-Fi. Otherwise, you can go with Ethernet if there's a port at both parents' houses. Just make sure to check which option fits your brother's setup better!
First off, don’t worry about it sounding cheap; many people start with a budget! To ensure compatibility of your parts, the easiest way is to use pcpartpicker.com. Just enter your CPU and GPU there, and it will help you find motherboards, RAM, and other components that will work with them. Your Ryzen 5 5500 and RX 6600 should pair well for a solid 1080p gaming experience, especially for Minecraft!
Also, while the Thermaltake Core V1 is a cool case, I'd recommend looking into mATX builds too, as they can offer better value and still be portable.
We chose mini ITX because it’ll be easier for him to carry around. I get that mATX may be better value, but we think the smaller size suits his needs.
Yeah, Wi-Fi would be necessary since they both only have a mobile hotspot.
