Help Needed: New Build with KLEVV C910 NVMe Drive Stuck at 100% Active Time

I'm having a serious issue with my brand-new PC build (just under three weeks old) that has become almost unusable due to disk performance problems. Even with high-end components, it takes over 10 minutes to boot, and loading basic applications like Steam or Chrome is painfully slow.

Here's the situation: my C: drive, which is an NVMe KLEVV C910, is constantly showing 100% Active Time in Task Manager, even though its Read/Write speeds remain around 0 or only up to 2 MB/s. It feels like the drive is stuttering or hanging with every single request.

My system specs are:
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D
- Motherboard: MSI B650 GAMING PLUS WIFI
- SSD (C:): 2TB KLEVV CRAS C910G Gen4 NVMe
- RAM: 32GB DDR5
- OS: Windows 11 Pro

I've already tried a handful of fixes:
- Updated BIOS to the latest version 7E26v1M6.
- Checked the drive health with CrystalDiskInfo, and it reads "Good 100%" with temperatures around 37°C.
- Adjusted power settings by disabling "Fast Startup," "Link State Power Management," and unlocked the "Active" setting for AHCI Link Power Management via the registry.
- Used the KLEVV SSD Toolbox, but it weirdly doesn't recognize my drive.
- Uninstalled and reinstalled the "Standard NVM Express Controller" driver.
- Attempted advanced tweaks like disabling MSI mode through the registry.
- Disabled SysMain (Superfetch) and Connected User Experiences services.

It seems like there could be a hardware compatibility issue between the B650 chipset and the KLEVV controller. The drive seems to report as healthy, but I'm at a loss elsewhere. Is this a common issue with KLEVV C910 drives or MSI B650 motherboards? Should I consider RMAing the drive or is there a specific NVMe driver or firmware I need?

I know that the KLEVV C910 has some compatibility problems with Ryzen setups. You could potentially run into lower-than-expected speeds due to that handshake issue you mentioned. Try the firmware route first, but if that doesn’t help, switching out your SSD for something with better reviews could be a good move. Life’s too short to deal with the QC lottery on NVMe drives!

Some alternatives to consider are the team a440 or the MSI M480 Pro - they seem to be better options!

It sounds like you've really put in the effort to troubleshoot this! Unfortunately, KLEVV drives have gained a bit of a bad reputation, especially with AMD chipsets. There are reports of firmware issues leading to performance spikes and general instability. I'd recommend you check for any firmware updates specifically for the KLEVV C910. If there isn’t anything available, it might be wise to RMA the drive and invest in a more reliable brand like the Samsung 980 Pro or WD Black.

What specifically goes wrong with them usually? Is it just slow access rates?
