Help Needed with Storage Solutions and Employee Communication Rollout

Hi guys! I'm reaching out for some input on two scenarios I'm facing at work:

1) We're looking for a photo storage solution for our team, which includes several people taking pictures during events. We want to set up both a cloud and local storage system that is easy for the principals to use. It's crucial to have local backups in case something gets deleted from the cloud. Privacy is a huge concern, so we need a system that allows strict access control. Can anyone recommend specific solutions and provide some cost estimates based on about 10 users who would need around 2GB of storage?

2) We have a company with about 50 employees divided into two main functions, all using company-provided phones and laptops. How would you suggest we roll out this equipment in a cost-effective way? I'd love to hear the reasons behind your suggestions and some pros and cons of the various options available.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

For the equipment rollout, consider a phased approach. Start with the critical roles that need immediate upgrades then roll out to the rest gradually. Buying in bulk can cut down costs too. The downside is that it may lead to some employees waiting longer for their gear, but it helps manage budget constraints effectively.

A phased rollout makes total sense, especially with a big team!

You might face some pushback from those who have to wait, but it can save money and streamline the process.

For the photo storage, I’d recommend using a combination of Google Drive for cloud storage and a Synology NAS for local storage. Google Drive offers great privacy control, and a Synology NAS is solid for keeping backups local. You can expect to pay around $10/month for Google Drive for 10 users, and about $300 for a decent NAS unit. This way, you have cloud access with backup security!

I've heard Synology is user-friendly too, which could help your team a lot!

That's a good combo! Just make sure to set up user permissions on the NAS to maintain that privacy you mentioned.
