I'm new to Linux and recently installed Manjaro on my first-generation Microsoft Surface Go to escape Windows. While it's been working quite well for me, I desired the Windows 8 desktop environment because I appreciated the tablet experience. So, I decided to install Win8DE, which went smoothly. However, whenever I try to log in now, the system crashes, while the standard GNOME environment still functions without issues. I'm hesitant to reinstall Manjaro, but I've struggled to find helpful information about troubleshooting Win8DE. Any advice?

It sounds like you’re facing some compatibility issues. Have you checked the logs for any errors during the login attempt? That might give you a clue about what's going wrong with Win8DE.
UI tweaks like Win8DE can sometimes introduce issues. If you’re really craving the Windows experience, you might want to consider reinstalling Windows.

But I removed Windows because it runs slowly on my 2018 Pentium Gold. I'm hoping to stick with a lightweight Linux setup.
