Help with Black Screen on Windows 2025 VM in VMware

I'm having trouble with my Windows 2025 virtual machine that's running on VMware 7. After I power it on, the VM shows the Windows logo but then goes straight to a black screen. Rebooting doesn't fix it, and moving it to another host hasn't worked either. All my other VMs on the same host are functioning perfectly. Has anyone else faced this problem or have any tips on how to resolve it?

If you can, try pinging or using RDP to connect to the VM when it goes black. That might help you find out if it's actually booting but just not displaying correctly. Also, don’t forget to check the event logs for any errors that could provide more insight.

First, check the VMware Compatibility Guide to see if your hypervisor version supports Windows Server 2025. There's a good chance that's the root of the issue, especially if you're using an older version of VMware. You can find the guide online and check page 63 for specifics.

Just a heads up, make sure you're using VMware 7, as that's where your setup needs to be. Also, try gathering more details about your installation. Is it all 2025 installations that are behaving like this? That could provide some clues.

Ensure you're using the PVSCSI driver for your system drive and see if you can boot in safe mode. This might give you a clearer picture of what’s going wrong.

Have you considered reinstalling the OS? Sometimes that could clear up any underlying issues, especially if the initial installation got corrupted somehow.
