Help with Booting Linux from an SD Card

I'm trying to switch from Windows 11 to Linux Mint using a 512GB SD card, but I'm encountering some issues. I followed some online tutorials to make the SD card bootable, but now it shows up as only 4.97 MB instead of the full 512 GB. I even tried to format it, but that didn't help. Also, when I tried accessing the BIOS to set it up for booting, the SD card didn't appear—only Windows shows up. My goal is to use this SD card for a dual boot setup instead of partitioning my hard drive. I'm a bit lost here, and I'd appreciate any guidance. Thanks!

When you mention it suddenly showing as 4.97 MB, are you checking that in 'My PC' on Windows? That usually shows the storage available on drives. If the SD card is showing incorrectly, it might not be properly partitioned or formatted. Have you tried using a disk utility tool or reformatting it again to see if that clears the issue?

You might run into performance issues trying to run Linux directly from an SD card, since they're often slower than USB drives. If you can, I recommend using a USB thumb drive instead for a smoother experience.
