Help with DisplayPort to HDMI Connection Issue on New GPU

I just got a Radeon RX 550 4GB low profile GPU, which only has a DisplayPort output. I bought a DisplayPort to HDMI cable and connected it to my TV, but after showing the Dell logo and a loading circle for a few moments, the input goes completely dead. I'm not very tech-savvy, and I've searched online for solutions but most of the advice is either too basic (which I've already tried) or too complex without clear explanations. I've even accessed the BIOS to set the computer to boot with the new graphics card instead of the integrated graphics. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'd really prefer not to return my new setup!

It sounds like you might need an active DisplayPort to HDMI adapter or cable, especially if you're using a 4K TV. A lot of standard cables can't handle the full capability. They usually support 4K at 60Hz, but if yours is just a 1080p TV, that shouldn't be a problem. Just double-check that you're using the right type of adapter!

I see, but my TV is only 1080p. What do you mean by 'active'? Is that the same as just a regular cable?
