I'm experiencing some frustrating stuttering while gaming and need some advice. Here are my specs: Intel Core i7-10700KF, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER, and I have 16 GB of RAM. Recently, I noticed my CPU temperatures were hitting up to 100°C, which I assumed was causing the stuttering. I changed the thermal paste and cooler, and for a brief time, I saw improvements. For instance, playing Rainbow Six on the lowest settings started well with stable 144 fps and temperatures under 90°C. However, after about 1-2 hours, the stuttering returned, and fps dropped to between 30-50 every 10-20 seconds. Capping the fps didn't help either, and I've tried adjusting every setting without success. A friend mentioned that the CPU might need time to acclimate to the new temperatures, but I'm not sure if that's the case. What could be causing this issue? Any suggestions?

I would double-check your cooling setup. Is the Noua Blizzard cooler currently installed on your CPU? If your temps are still hitting the 90s after a session, you might want to consider a better cooling solution. Remember, if your CPU is still at high temperatures after extended play, it could lead to performance issues. Keep an eye on your GPU temperature as well since that can also impact gaming performance.
It sounds like you might be experiencing thermal throttling if your CPU hits those high temperatures. What temps are you seeing during gameplay? Also, running a GTX 1660 could be causing a bottleneck, especially if you're playing at high resolutions. Lowering the resolution to 1080p might help smooth out performance. However, if your temperatures drop below 70°C while gaming, it might not be a thermal issue at all. As for your friend's advice, I've never heard of CPUs needing time to 'get used' to new temperatures; that seems a bit off. Have you checked your case airflow too?
That's really strange! If the stuttering persists, there might be something else going on aside from temperature. When the stuttering happens, do you notice if it occurs while moving your character around or even when standing still? Sometimes the stuttering can be tied to how the game handles updates rather than solely system specs. Also, what resolution are you playing at? Dropping to 720p or 1080p might help if you're on a higher resolution. Lastly, checking the speed of your RAM and if it's set to its rated speed in BIOS could also help.
