Hi everyone! I'm having trouble restoring my iPhone 14 Pro using iTunes on my Windows PC. I connected it with a USB-C to Lightning cable and got it into recovery mode. The restoration process was going well until about 50%, when I got the error message: 'The iPhone could not be restored. An unknown error has occurred (53).' I'm puzzled because I successfully restored older devices like my iPad 3 without any issues. Also, I should mention that the flashlight on my iPhone isn't working either. I've tried both the Apple Devices and iTunes apps, and they both show the same error. Does anyone know what could be causing this?

Error code 53 typically happens with devices that have an aftermarket or unpaired Touch ID button. It’s weird to see this on a Face ID device like yours. Has the display ever been replaced, or was there any previous repair involving the TrueDepth camera? I’ve seen a similar case recently with a Face ID phone.

The phone was a gift, and I don't think the display has ever been replaced. I also checked and it seems the Face ID was never tampered with either.
