Help with Micro Stuttering on Ryzen 5 5600 + RTX 2070

Hey everyone! I'm dealing with some annoying micro stuttering issues while gaming on my PC, and it's really ruining the experience. Here are the specs of my setup:

- **CPU:** Ryzen 5 5600
- **GPU:** RTX 2070
- **RAM:** 16GB DDR4 3200MHz (dual channel)
- **Motherboard:** MSI A520M PRO
- **OS:** Windows 11

**The Problem:** I'm noticing that my FPS drops, particularly the 1% lows, and while temps are fine and I'm not hitting max usage on my CPU, GPU, or RAM, it still feels laggy during gameplay.

**Things I've Tried:** I've gone through a whole checklist of optimizations, including:
- Optimizing Windows background settings
- Switching Resizable BAR options in BIOS
- Ensuring RAM is using full speed with XMP/DOCP
- Updating all drivers (motherboard and GPU)
- Doing a clean reinstall of the GPU driver with DDU
- Disabling unnecessary background apps
- Playing with in-game graphics settings
- Using RTSS/frame limiter
- Enabling V-Sync (which helps a bit)
- Adjusting power settings in Windows and Nvidia Control Panel
- Looking at optimization videos for tips

I've seen stuttering in games like Mafia II, Mafia III, and Resident Evil 3, and even though I get decent averages in other games like Valorant, it still doesn't feel smooth.

**What I Haven't Tried Yet:** Updating my BIOS driver might be my next step, but if anyone has had similar issues and knows of any tweaks (especially with BIOS or Nvidia settings), I'd really appreciate your help! Thanks!

Have you tried disabling the performance overlay in the Nvidia app? Also, if you're using MSI Afterburner, make sure to disable GPU power tracking. Those settings can sometimes cause issues without you realizing it.

I tried that but didn’t notice a difference. I think I might just reinstall the GPU driver without the Nvidia app.

Hey! One thing to check is whether your games are installed on an HDD instead of an SSD. If they are, that could definitely contribute to stuttering problems. SSDs help a lot with loading and performance.

Nope, I'm running everything on an SSD.

I had a similar issue in Genshin Impact and found that adding the game folder to the Windows Defender safe list really helped reduce stutters by a lot! It could be worth trying for one of your stuttering games. I did a lot of the optimizations you mentioned too, but this tip made a big difference for me!

Thanks for the suggestion!
