Help with My PC Performance Issues

I bought a PC for $400, which I've been using for about a year. Unfortunately, my dog chewed on it and now it doesn't display anything, but I was already planning to rebuild it because the case was terrible. I had to lower the graphics settings to play games like Fortnite and Call of Duty to prevent crashes, but I assumed that was normal for a budget build. After researching the parts, I'm surprised at how poorly it performs given their specs. I'm starting to think my motherboard might be causing the slow performance. Here are the specs: MSI MPG Gaming Plus motherboard, Asus Strix GTX 1070 8GB graphics card, RM 850x power supply, AMD Ryzen 5 3600 CPU, Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 (16GB x 4), and a Samsung SSD 850 Pro (1TB) with a Cooler Master Hyper 212X CPU cooler. I'm new to this and I'm considering building my own PC but I'd like to know if I can reuse some of these parts since they seem to be high quality.

That GTX 1070 is an older midrange GPU, and it's definitely a big factor in your performance issues. It's been around for a while, so if you're looking for better performance, an upgrade might be necessary.

Your PC is actually pretty solid for casual esports titles in 1080p. To enhance your gaming experience, consider upgrading your graphics card to at least an RTX 3060 12GB or, for 1440p, look into an RX 6900 XT 16GB or RTX 3060 Ti. If you're also thinking about upgrading your CPU, then a Ryzen 5600 would be a great choice.
