I'm having a frustrating problem with my network connection on Windows 11. Despite trying everything I could find online, including resetting my PC to factory settings, I still get an "unidentified network" error with my own LAN cable. Interestingly, my brother's LAN works perfectly fine on my PC. I'm not sure if I should just buy a new LAN cable or if there's something else I should check first. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Since your LAN cable is failing on both your PC and your laptop, it does seem like the cable itself might be faulty. You might want to replace it. However, make sure your router is functioning well; try plugging something else into it to see if it connects properly.
It sounds like your LAN cable might be the issue since your brother's cable works fine on your PC. Before you buy a new one, I'd recommend making sure all your Ethernet settings are correct and trying another port on your router if you have one. Also, check if there’s any physical damage to your cable that could be causing the problem.
Just to clarify, when you connect your PC using your LAN cable in your room, you get the unidentified network. But it works fine with your brother's cable? Have you tried restarting your router? Sometimes a simple reset can solve weird connection issues. If that doesn't help and the cable doesn't work on your laptop either, it’s probably time for a new cable.
