My New Gaming PC Won’t Boot After Windows Installation – What Should I Do?

I just built my first gaming PC and got through the initial boot and Windows installation successfully. However, after putting all four of my DDR5 RAM sticks back in, my motherboard is showing a red and yellow DRAM light, just like it did before. I initially resolved that issue by removing three RAM sticks and rebooting, which turned the lights green, and I was eventually able to install Windows. But now, it's not booting at all after the installation. What steps should I take to troubleshoot this problem? I'd really appreciate any advice!

It sounds like you might be having issues with how your RAM is interacting with your motherboard. Four sticks of RAM can sometimes be tricky, especially with overclocked settings. Try removing all but one stick and see if it boots; then, you can add them back one at a time to check for any faulty sticks or compatibility issues. Sometimes, RAM needs a bit of "training" to work correctly, and with multiple sticks, it's more complicated.

That makes sense! I was worried about mixing the pairs. I’ll give that a try and see what happens before putting them all back in.

Given that your PC isn't responding at all now, it might be a few things. First, check all your connections; sometimes a cable can come loose during assembly. If that’s all good, try reseating your RAM sticks in different slots. It can also be worthwhile to reset the CMOS, which can resolve many booting issues by restoring the BIOS settings to default.

Great tips! I’ll check the cables first and then reset the CMOS if it still doesn’t boot. Thanks!
