How are you managing critical alerts with SMS these days?

I'm facing challenges with tier 0 alerts because we're getting overwhelmed with notifications on Slack at odd hours. The SMS carrier regulations are becoming a nightmare. Our "low volume" 10DLC campaigns are stuck in manual review for ages. I'm currently testing an API that could handle compliance, which would let us send out alerts immediately. I'm curious, how is everyone else routing priority alerts to their teams in 2026? Are you tackling issues with the carriers, or have you found ways to outsource compliance?

We primarily use PagerDuty too. While many still get SMS notifications, we rely more on push notifications now. I understand the struggle with SMS campaigns, though—what provider are you using that's giving you such trouble?

A lot of places are using tools like PagerDuty or OpsGenie for critical alerts and on-call notifications. They’re great because you can get important push notifications that cut through the noise.

Yeah, PagerDuty all the way! The "blow up my phone" setting for priority alerts really helps get my attention.

We mix it up with Pushover and some old school pagers. It's worked well for us. A bit unconventional, but it gets the job done!

If you're considering building it yourself, using Twilio could work, but honestly, it's a lot of hassle. I recommend going for something like PagerDuty or Grafana OnCall; they have apps that handle important alerts effectively, even breaking through do not disturb modes.
