Hey everyone! I'm curious about how folks are using the Microsoft High Volume Email service, especially with the whole deprecation of legacy authentication. I've heard that basic SMTP might not work anymore, so how are people adapting?

Honestly, I think Microsoft might eventually charge for this service, so keep that in mind. I recommend exploring paid options just in case. I’m testing SMTP2Go for my estimated 30,000 emails blast once a year, which fits our need better than HVE since it's more use-case flexible and not in beta.
We’re mainly using it for scanners and multifunction printers. The 2000 external recipient limit works well for small businesses running apps. My main concern is that Microsoft might start charging for it once it’s fully available. It’s crucial to set a policy for basic SMTP auth since that’s what makes HVE work after removing it from other services. We found the setup for high volume email surprisingly simple, especially since we had to exempt a few accounts for legacy printers. The cool part is it still uses basic SMTP, just on a different Office 365 endpoint, so it was a breeze to transition over for our printers.
Yeah, I’m pretty sure Microsoft will start monetizing this once it gains popularity.
