Hey everyone! I'm looking for advice on how to build solid knowledge of Azure and its various aspects. I'm focusing on cloud technologies since I studied computer science and hold a junior architect position. However, I've realized I need to deepen my technical understanding in certain areas. Right now, I'm working on the AZ-900 certification with plans to tackle AZ-305 later on. What key areas should I concentrate on to gain a well-rounded understanding of Azure, especially without having a hands-on engineering background?

I find it surprising that you're already in a junior architect role right after university! Usually, there’s a clear path like starting as a software engineer before moving into architecture. But back to your question — I'd suggest that after the AZ-900, you should consider getting certifications like AZ-104 and AZ-204 based on your job requirements. Just a heads-up though: certifications are helpful, but they won’t replace real-world experience.

Honestly, if you can, think about taking a step back and finding an engineering role first. It’s tough to be a junior architect without engineering experience, as it’s a big jump. You’ll need that background to really understand how to design systems effectively down the line.

You can really level up your skills with cloud hands-on practice and tools like Terraform or OpenTofu. A subscription to something like GitHub Copilot can also help you learn to build and manage projects. As a Junior Architect, your role often entails consulting, so understanding Azure deeply and making connections within your organization is key. Network, learn how things work, and be a problem-solver!

Using free Azure services is a fantastic way to learn! You can experiment without any costs involved, which gives you a chance to practice hands-on. Plus, those certifications like AZ-104 can guide you on the right learning paths. Just dive in and start using them!
