I found an image that has a PNG extension, but it appears to be animated when used as a logo on Steam or when viewed in certain contexts. I'm curious about how this is possible since it looks like a standard PNG file when I check it directly. Can someone explain how a PNG file can be animated, or if it's really a PNG?

Actually, animated PNGs do exist! You can create them using tools like [ezgif.com](https://ezgif.com/apng-maker). However, it sounds like your image might not be one of those. Often, what happens is people save animated images from formats like GIF or WebP but rename them to PNG. If it's 11.2MB, that's a hefty file size, and browsers might interpret the file based on its content, not just its name. My image viewer didn’t show the animation, but Firefox did.

That's what I found too! I downloaded the file and it came back as a WebP, not a PNG. It seems people aren't checking the actual file format, just the extension.
