I'm looking for advice on how to add wireless internet capability to my PC, which currently only has an ethernet connection. My ex built this PC back in 2020, and it worked fine with a wired connection in my last two places since I was close to the router. However, I've just moved to a new location, and my current setup requires wireless since the wired connection isn't feasible right now. Do I need to get a new motherboard for this, or is there an add-on that can help me connect wirelessly? I have limited knowledge about these things, so any help would be greatly appreciated as I need to prepare for my online classes!

A straightforward solution is to grab a USB Wi-Fi adapter. They're really easy to use and perfect for adding wireless capabilities without much hassle.
If you're aiming for the best performance, a Wi-Fi card is a great choice! But if you're looking for something more immediate, a USB dongle is super easy to set up. Just double-check that your motherboard has an open slot if you plan to go for the card later on.
Good to know! A dongle will help me get started for my classes, but I'll consider a Wi-Fi card for the future. Thanks a lot for your help! 🙂
One option is to invest in a USB internet dongle. They're affordable and should work well for basic connectivity while you're in a pinch. If you ever decide to upgrade, a new motherboard would provide better performance, but the dongle will get you online quickly!
Does the dongle really work if my motherboard only supports ethernet? Can it actually create a connection or just boost one?
Thanks for the suggestion! 🙂
