I recently built my first PC and installed a new 2TB NVMe SSD (the Crucial P310). However, I'm only getting download speeds around 200 MB/s for games, even though it claims to support up to 7,100 MB/s. My motherboard is the TUF GAMING B650M-E WIFI. What can I do to increase the download speeds, ideally to at least 1000 MB/s?

Make sure you're downloading large files when testing your SSD's speed. The numbers you see advertised are for sequential reads—basically, they're the fastest speeds achievable under ideal conditions, not what you'll get for regular downloads. Also, remember your ssd can't fix slow servers on the other end—it's all about the weakest link in the chain!
Consider running a benchmark test using something like CrystalDiskMark. That'll give you a better idea of how your SSD performs in real conditions. And keep in mind, high speeds are usually seen when you're moving large files, not during typical game downloads because of all the factors involved like server speed and compression.
It sounds like your internet speed is the main issue here. Even if your SSD is super fast, the download speed is mostly limited by your internet connection. If you're really getting 200 MB/s, that's pretty amazing for internet speed (around 1.6 Gbps), but I suspect it's more like 200 Mbps, which isn't as great. Try testing your internet directly with a wired connection and see what speeds you get from your ISP.
Yeah, 200 Mbps is common; you might want to check if your modem/router supports faster speeds too!
Exactly! Other factors like file decompression can slow things down too. Fast on paper often doesn’t translate to real-world speed!
