My dad manages an office with two PCs, both originally equipped with Intel i3 processors. Recently, I noticed one of the computers was running extremely slowly, and upon checking, I discovered it had a Pentium CPU instead. I'm really curious if there's a way to check the system logs or any other methods to confirm when the CPU was changed. Can anyone offer advice on this?

If you truly believe someone swapped your CPU, try using a program like CPU-Z or HWINFO. They'll give you detailed info about what's actually in each machine. Also, check the Event Viewer for any logs on hardware changes. Just change the filter to Kernel Processor-power and see if anything pops up.
If the logs don’t show anything before that date, it could mean someone cleared them out or they just weren’t recorded. You might want to investigate further.
Honestly, I find it hard to believe someone would go through the effort of swapping an old processor. What's the point of swapping a CPU like that? It seems more likely that the PC was never upgraded from a Pentium to an i3. Just saying, it might not be as suspicious as it seems.
Exactly! If it didn’t get changed, then why the sudden performance drop? It seems fishy!
But there's brand new i3 CPUs that are way better now. I get what you're saying, but if it was supposed to be an i3, why is there a Pentium in there now?
Come on, you really think some master criminal broke in just to downgrade your PC? Sounds like a stretch! Maybe you just assumed it was an i3, but it was always a Pentium. You might want to check again and see if you mixed them up.
Believe me, I checked and it was definitely an i3 before. I wouldn't have mixed them up!
I did check the Event Viewer, but it only has logs since a specific date. Does that mean old logs might have been deleted?
