How can I check if my SSD is dead in BIOS?

Hey everyone! I'm completely new to PCs and could use some help. Just 30 minutes ago, I was chatting on Discord when I tried to launch a game. My PC froze, turned black, and after a restart, it now only boots into BIOS. I suspect my SSD might be dead. I have an ASRock motherboard and I'm wondering where I should check in the BIOS to confirm if my SSD is indeed the issue.

If your BIOS has a health check feature, run that to see what it says about your SSD. But remember, if it never shows up at all in boot priority or SATA configurations, that's a bad sign.

Go into your BIOS and check the boot option to see if your SSD is listed in the boot priority. If it's absent from that list, then it’s likely not being detected. Also, double-check the physical connections! Ensure everything is plugged in correctly. If it still doesn’t appear after reseating, your SSD might need replacing.

It sounds like you're not seeing your SSD in the BIOS. I checked the Advanced tab and noticed under Storage Configuration that all SATA slots show "nothing present." It’s also missing from the main page that lists all your components. If it's not recognized there, it could mean your SSD has failed.

Try this: Turn off your computer, remove the SSD, and then put it back. Turn the PC on again. If it boots to Windows, great! If not, check if the SSD is visible in BIOS after reseating it.

Make sure the drive is properly connected. If it still doesn’t show up after a confirmation check, it’s likely that your SSD is indeed dead. It's also important that it appears both in the SATA slot and on the main window of BIOS.
