How can I check which PC parts are compatible with my Asus G11CD?

Hey everyone! I recently bought an Asus G11CD for a good deal on eBay, but I'm having some serious issues with it—lots of black screens and weird green and red pixels. My more tech-savvy friends think it's probably a failing GPU, so I'm thinking about upgrading it along with my CPU. I'm looking to replace my GPU with a GTX 1070 Ti and my CPU with an Intel i7-6700, but I have no idea if these will fit with my current motherboard. I've tried looking for a compatibility list, but I'm struggling to find one that's helpful. Even PCPartPicker didn't really clear things up for me. Any advice on how to check compatibility or recommendations? I'd really appreciate your help since these problems are getting worse with use. Thanks!

First off, sorry to hear about your issues with the PC! It sounds like the GPU is indeed the culprit with those pixel issues. The GTX 1070 Ti should generally be compatible with your Asus G11CD, but you’ll still want to double-check your power supply and ensure it can support the new GPU. As for the CPU upgrade to the i7-6700—make sure your motherboard has the right socket. Since you're upgrading both, it might also be a good idea to save up for something a bit newer if you can!

Thanks for the tips! I’ll look into the power supply requirements.

Your current CPU, the Intel i5-6400, and the GPU you have, the AMD Radeon R9 380, should perform decently for lighter games like Elite Dangerous and BeamNG. However, upgrading to the GTX 1070 Ti and i7-6700 would definitely give you a boost! Just make sure to check your motherboard model and search for its specs online; you can find socket compatibility there. It might also help to browse forums where others have done similar upgrades for insights.
