I've been accustomed to using Active Directory for years, where user folder names follow the format under C:Users, like C:UsersDesmond or C:UsersDKohlberg, based on the SamAccountName. Now, with the switch to Autopilot and Intune, I'm seeing folder names such as C:UsersDesmondKohlberg, which feels too long and not very clean. Is there a way to control this and limit it to just the first name when signing in with a Microsoft 365 business account?

I'm just trying to figure out if I'm missing something here that could be a simple fix. It's not a huge deal, just something I was used to controlling.
How much does it bother you? Because honestly, it seems like a small issue.
This issue is hard-coded into Entra ID, and there's no option for configuration. So it looks like we’re stuck with it as is.
Honestly, you can't really change this. It's just one of those things you have to accept. Otherwise, you'll just drive yourself up the wall over it.
If you're still syncing with Entra Connect on-premises, then it will reflect the SamAccountName. But if not, just let it go. It's just the way things are now.
I guess it is something we have to live with now, but I preferred the old method.

Yeah, I noticed that too. It seems like that's the only way you can manage the SamAccountName in Entra ID.
