How Can I Convince My Husband to Stop Resetting the Router Every Time He Browses?

Hey everyone! My husband has developed a bit of a fixation on internet safety after reading about some hacking incident. Now, every time he visits an adult site on his old laptop, he resets our router. This has become a nightly routine, where I'm often left waiting for the internet to reconnect. While I appreciate his concern for security, this obsession is quite frustrating, especially since he claims the site is safe. What can I say to him, in layman's terms, to help him understand that resetting the router is unnecessary and he can just leave it alone?

I think this might go beyond just tech advice. If he's super anxious about all this, it might be worth having a chat about his feelings regarding internet use. A little therapy could go a long way to help him manage that anxiety.

First thing to know is resetting the router isn't really helping in this situation. If he's worried about a virus or malware, the issue will likely be on the computer, not the router. What could really help is getting a solid antivirus and maybe using a VPN for added security. That way, he won't have to reset the router every time he browses.

You might want to suggest he create a separate guest network for his activities. This can help isolate his browsing from your devices. Plus, if he’s really worried, a VPN could be a good compromise—just something to hide his activity from prying eyes.

Honestly, if he’s this paranoid, he might need to rethink his browsing habits. Resetting the router is not doing much for security; once he clicks on something malicious, the damage is already done. Maybe getting him to read some reliable info on online security would help?

Haha, it sounds like he's being a bit extra! Just tell him that once something is on the laptop, it’s not magically going to disappear by resetting the router. Maybe try discussing some safer browsing habits instead? Like using private browsing or avoiding sketchy links.
