How can I copy files to laptops using Group Policy?

I'm having a tough time getting files transferred from my domain controller (DC) or shared file server to laptops. I've set up a folder with read access for authenticated users and granted full access to everyone on both the DC and the file server, as well as on a test laptop. I can create folders on the laptops, but I can't seem to move any files into them. I've tried using the IP address, the server's .local name, and just the server's name for the source file, and I've also applied loopback and shared the folder. Nothing seems to work—what am I missing?

It sounds like you have read access, which lets users copy files, but they can't move them. Be sure to check the permissions on both the file system and the share itself. You might not need Full Control; just Modify access should do the trick. Also, Full Control is often too much permission to give out.

I see what you mean. I gave Full Control as a last resort to see if it would work, but the user can still access the share and copy files. Just can't get the GPO to do it automatically.
