I'm looking for a good method to put my laptop into sleep mode on Linux Mint. Alternatively, I'd like to know if I can disable the screensaver because locking the screen doesn't seem to turn off the display completely. I want to save battery by ensuring the screen is off when I'm not using it, if possible.

You should definitely be able to do it! Usually, there's a Suspend option in the shutdown menu. Just hit the red button and it should prompt you.

You can find the sleep option by clicking on the shutdown menu. Look for 'Suspend' there; it works just like sleep does on other systems.

If you really want the laptop turned off instead, why not just shut it down completely?

If you're trying to save battery, don't forget to check your power settings. There might be options specific for sleep mode.
