I'm concerned about the safety and security of Firefox extensions. I've heard that some can inject malware, do cryptojacking, or spy on users to steal information. Because of that, I limit my use of extensions. Currently, I have two: Ublock and Unhook, but I don't fully trust Unhook since the company is unknown to me. Also, I recently realized I have a third extension called Keepa for Amazon price tracking, and I'm not sure if that's safe either. Can anyone tell me how we can determine if an extension is safe? Is there a reliable tool for this, or is it more about trusting the company? Also, I'm looking for a trustworthy YouTube cleaning extension. Thanks!

Unfortunately, there's no tool that can definitively verify the safety of an extension better than a manual code review on platforms like GitHub. While automated tools exist, skilled bad actors constantly work to outsmart them. Essentially, if you don't check the source code, it's really about trust.
Even in supposedly secure environments, issues can still arise. Just be cautious and avoid installing extensions from unknown sources. For cleaning up YouTube, Ublock can actually help remove unwanted content too!
Thanks for the tip! I'll stick with Ublock and look for alternatives for YouTube that I can trust.
