How can I extend Wi-Fi to my garden office?

I have a garden office that's about 30 feet from my main house, and unfortunately, the Wi-Fi signal from my router doesn't quite reach it. I've set up two broadband extenders that use the electrical network to transmit data: one is connected near the router via an Ethernet cable, and the other is in the garden office. I'm wondering if there's a device I can connect to the Ethernet cable from the extender in the office to get Wi-Fi there. Any suggestions would be really appreciated!

It sounds like an access point would be your best bet! You could plug it into the extender in your garden office and then it would create a separate Wi-Fi network just for that space. Pretty straightforward solution!

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll definitely check that out.

Would this work as an access point? [https://amzn.eu/d/gWUmAa3](https://amzn.eu/d/gWUmAa3) Let me know!

Just a heads up, using multiple powerline solutions can reduce efficiency, especially if they're both transmitting signals. It might be worthwhile to consult an electrician about running a single Ethernet cable from your main router to the garden office. This way, you can connect an access point directly without losing signal quality.

Access points are really your best bet! If you have any old routers lying around, you can repurpose those instead of buying a new device. There are guides online that show how to set them up as access points. Just plug it into your Ethernet from the extender—simple as that!

Great to know! I actually have a couple of old routers I could try using.

Also, if you're in the UK, keep in mind the wiring setup could impact performance. If your office is off a different circuit from your router, the powerline adapters might not work well together. A Wi-Fi repeater in a strategic place could help too, maybe on the upper floor near your garden office for better coverage!

Thanks for the detailed insight! I'm still figuring out the wiring situation in my new house. Would it work if I put a repeater in the first-floor bedroom? Would that reach the office? Also, would the garden office and the house share the same SSID?

Yes, a repeater on the first floor could help! And yes, if you configure everything correctly, the garden office could have the same SSID, giving you a seamless experience.

I’ve been in a similar situation using TP-Link powerline extenders that have Wi-Fi capabilities. They come with Ethernet ports, which could be really helpful! Might be worth considering if you're looking for a simple setup.

Is this similar to what I have? [https://amzn.eu/d/aFS57DE](https://amzn.eu/d/aFS57DE) It seems like it has Wi-Fi built-in.

That's exactly what I was thinking! Sounds like a solid option.
