I recently encountered an issue where my SD card has become write-protected and I can't figure out why. I've checked the physical lock switch on the card and even tried using it on a couple of different devices, but I still can't make any changes. What steps can I take to resolve this issue and get my SD card working again?

Just remember that the write protection switch on the SD card is mechanical, not electrical. If you accidentally flipped it, that's an easy fix. If it’s still acting up, there might be a way to remount the drive as read/write in your OS settings, which could override the lock.
Great point! It can be a simple oversight.
It sounds like your SD card might be facing hardware issues. Sometimes, when the internal controller is about to fail, it automatically becomes write-protected to prevent data loss. You should back up any critical files as soon as possible since normal use might not be possible again after this. Just a heads up!
That's a bummer! How old is it? Seems strange for it to fail so soon.
Good call on the backup! Better safe than sorry.
If it seems like it's truly failing, make sure to copy everything you can and think about replacing the card. Some SSDs have been known to act similarly when starting to fail, which can lead to major data loss.
Yikes, I'm definitely backing mine up now.
Totally agree, just keeping it real!
Have you tried using DISKPART on a Windows PC? It might help to reset the permissions. Sometimes formatting with the right tools can also remove the write protection if it's not a hardware issue.
Oh man, that's done the trick for me before! Good catch!
It's worth a shot! Let me know how it goes.

I totally did that once! Double-check that switch!
