How Can I Free Up Storage on My Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus Without Losing Photos?

I'm at my wits' end with my Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus. Even though I have 256 GB storage, I keep getting notifications that I'm at 99% full. The apps alone are supposedly taking up over 72 GB, but when I add up their individual sizes, it only totals 30 GB. I think there might be hidden files or leftover data from apps I've deleted in the past, like Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail. I've already tried deleting a bunch of photos and videos, which I don't want to lose, as they're really special to me. What should I do to sort this out? Should I consider cloud storage for my photos, or is there another way to clear up space?

It sounds like you might be dealing with some hidden cache files from your apps. Android can be a bit tricky, as it often retains extra data even after you've deleted the main application. Have you tried clearing the cache for all your installed apps? That can sometimes free up a surprising amount of space! Also, make sure to check if any apps you're using, like Telegram, are taking up unexpected storage. They can accumulate a lot of unnecessary data.

Yeah, definitely clear that cache. And don’t forget to check if any of those apps have data stored you can delete without affecting your usage!

If your photos are super important to you, it's a must to back them up. Consider uploading them to a cloud service like Google Photos; that way, you can still access them on your phone while freeing up space. Once they're backed up, you can use the 'clear space' feature in Google Photos to make room on your device without losing anything. Just ensure you have a second backup somewhere else as a safety net!

Totally agree! It’s so important to have a backup, especially for irreplaceable memories. Cloud storage is a lifesaver!

Have you thought about using a cleanup app? Something like Avast Cleanup can help you identify and remove junk files, but be cautious with the suggestions it gives. Sometimes they can be a bit too aggressive, so review before you delete anything. Just remember to take that backup first!

Good point! Just make sure you permanently delete files and not just move them to a recycling bin. Double-check your trash settings; sometimes files don’t get fully deleted right away!
