I live in a three-story townhome, and my main internet modem is in the garage on the first floor. Since I'm a gamer, I need a solid ethernet connection. Right now, I have an ethernet cable running from my modem to my room on the same floor. I'm considering moving to my office on the third floor, but there are no ethernet wall outlets up there—just a coax outlet. Is it possible to connect my modem in the garage to the third floor using the coax outlet with something like MoCA adapters? If so, do I need to hire an electrician or someone from my internet provider to help? I'm not very tech-savvy, so I'd appreciate any advice on how feasible this is and who I should contact for help. Also, if you could give me a rough estimate of costs (I'm in Canada), that would be super helpful!

I think the best route is to run a single Cat6 or Cat5e cable from your garage to your new room. Around here, that usually costs about $75, assuming there aren't extra fees. Coax might work for MoCA, but it really depends on your cables—some older ones are limited to about 100 MBPS.

How does running the cable work? Do they just drill a hole in the wall?
