How can I get my USB to play music in my car?

I'm having some trouble getting my USB stick to work with my car stereo. I own a 2018 Challenger and I want to play music through it using a 64 GB USB drive that I formatted to FAT32 with guiformat. However, every time I plug it in, I get a 'USB error' message. I'd love to hear from anyone who has successfully done this or knows what might be wrong.

Weird issues can happen with car USBs! Sometimes, unusual characters in your MP3 filenames or tags can be the culprit. It might be worth checking that.

Good idea! I actually have some songs with odd characters. Renaming them might help.

FAT32 has a historical limit of 32GB on Windows formatting tools, but there are ways around that. If you can, partition your drive to about 30GB and format it to FAT32; that should resolve the issue.

I heard the 32GB limit is just for Windows tools, not for all systems.

You might want to try NTFS formatting instead. Make sure your USB is still functioning properly too. Check your car manual for any details on supported formats, but I think .mp3 files are your best bet!

I was under the impression it had to be FAT or FAT32, but I'll give NTFS a shot. The manual doesn't clarify size or format, just that it supports USBs.

Device compatibility can be tricky with certain models. If your car supports Bluetooth, that could be an easier workaround if the USB continues to cause issues.

I could use Bluetooth, but I'd prefer USB for convenience. My phone is old and I've had enough of it!
